Regional Research Expo 2023

 

On June 28, 2023, the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) organized the “Regional Research Expo 2023” under the theme “Research and Innovation for Sustainable Development: Southern Thailand Model.” The event took place in collaboration with Walailak University, with the School of Management being one of the four schools invited to hold an academic conference on the topic of “High-Value Economic and Business Development Aspects of Sustainability in the Southern of Thailand” at Room 213, Building 6 (ST), Walailak University.

During the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siwarit Pongsakornrungsilp, Acting Dean of the School of Management, invited Asst.Prof.Supawadee Photiyarach, from Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI), to deliver the opening speech and keynote presentation on the topic of “Driving the Economy through Utilizing Research Benefits.”

This was accompanied by activities focusing on driving the economy and high-value businesses with technology and innovation based on the research work of the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT). Asst.Prof.Dr. Annop Thasanudom, the Innovation House Awards: All Stars Researcher, presented on the topic of “The Role of Research and Commercial Development in Local Economic Development Based on Identity.” Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siwarit Pongsakornrungsilp, Acting Dean of the School of Management, presented on the topic of “Creative Economic Development to Increase Product Value through Branding.” The School of Management, Walailak University, expressed its appreciation to Dr. Sukhuman Klamsaengsai for moderating the event and facilitating meaningful discussions on the topic.

Furthermore, the event featured a presentation on “Adding Value and Developing Local Products for Economic Stability” by Asst.Prof.Dr. Pimlapas Pongsakornrungsilp from the School of Management, Walailak University. This included several important topics, including:

  1. Case studies on adding value and developing local products by community enterprises and SMEs, presented by Dr. Atchara Sankom, a lecturer from the School of Management, Walailak University.
  2. Value-added and development of local products such as traditional sweets and local rice, presented by Asst.Prof.Poonyaphet Datphaetcharat, lecturer from the Faculty of Science and Technology, Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University.
  3. Development of a sustainable business model under the seafood processing brand “Pla Neat” by Mr. Suthep Chaithanee, Managing Director of Southern Seafood Products (SSP)

Additionally, the event included activities for preliminary problem analysis and business consulting provided by a team of researchers and experts in marketing, tourism, agriculture, and food. These activities aimed to promote commercial development and the enhancement of products and services within the framework of sustainable economic development based on local identity.
