Walailak University’s School of Management Successfully Hosted the International Conference in Management Study 2026 (ICMS 2026) On March 26, 2026, the School of Management, Walailak University, successfully hosted the ICMS 2026 at the Pattarathammaporn Chamber, Walailak University Hospital, under the theme “Carbon Neutrality and Sustainability.” The conference brought together scholars, experts, and professionals from various institutions to exchange knowledge and perspectives on sustainability, innovation, business, and emerging technologies. The event began with a report address by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pensiri Kaewthong, Head of the Research Center, followed by the opening remarks by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pimlapas Pongskornrungsilp, Dean of the School of Management. Throughout the conference, participants engaged with a range of timely and impactful topics, including Sustainable & Carbon-Neutral Tourism Development, Sustainable Marketing and Mindful Branding, Green Logistics and Low-Carbon Supply Chain Management, Sustainable Culinary Innovation and Low-Carbon Gastronomy, and AI-Driven Sustainability. The conference featured a distinguished lineup of international speakers who shared valuable insights at the intersection of technology, business, and ecology: Prof. Ricky Y. K. Dr. Phatcharasiri (Angie) Ratcharak (Greenwich Business School, UK) addressed Green Human Resource Management and strategies for overcoming resistance to change. Yan Sun (Guangzhou Xinhua University, China) examined AI resources, firm performance, and green value co-creation. The event aimed to enhance the research capabilities of faculty members and accelerate the transition of research drafts into high-impact international publications. The meeting focused on addressing inquiries from the ICOMOS World Heritage Panel regarding the nomination of Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan, Nakhon Si Thammarat, as a World Heritage Site. The session was held at the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Office, City Hall. 🏛️ Purpose of the Meeting The primary objective was to prepare comprehensive data and respond to technical questions raised by the ICOMOS World Heritage Panel. This is a critical step in the evaluation process for the cultural heritage site “Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan” to be officially registered on the World Heritage List. 🤝 Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration The meeting was chaired by Associate Professor Wirut Thinnakorn, Dean of the School of Architecture and Design, Walailak University. The event was honored by the presence of the Director of the Institute for Research and Innovation Excellence (RIIE), Walailak University, who met with: 1. Research Trends in Environmental Economics, Value Chain, and Knowledge Management for Sustainable Development: The core lecture focused on the latest research trends in critical areas such as Environmental Economics, Value Chain analysis, and Knowledge Management, highlighting their essential role in achieving Sustainable Development goals. Chan, Associate Dean (Education), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, as a distinguished speaker for a special lecture titled “Enhancing the Quality of Research Publications in Carbon Neutrality and Sustainability.” The session was held on October 29, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Chor Pradu Conference Room, Walailak University Medical Center Hospital. This event was organized under the Reinventing Project for Enhancing Thai Universities into the International Education System, supported by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI). Research Project by Walailak University Wins Honorable Mention at Thailand Research Expo 2025 A Model for Transforming Faith-Based Waste into Thai Creative Soft Power On 20 June 2025, at the Thailand Research Expo 2025, held at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre, CentralWorld, Bangkok,the research project titled“Cultural Capital Management Based on Belief Systems Surrounding the Ancient Sand Dune”, also known as the “Srichon Project”, from Walailak University,was awarded an Honorable Mention, accompanied by a cash prize of 20,000 THB and a certificate of recognition. The award was presented by Professor Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI). The award was received byAssociate Professor Dr. Siwarit Phongsakornrangsin,Vice President of Walailak Universityand Head of the Digital Marketing and Branding Program, School of Management,who also serves as the Principal Investigator of the project, along with his research team. The project is a collaborative effort between Walailak University, Wat Chedi (Ai Khai), local communities, and regional networks, with support from the Program Management Unit for Area-Based Development (PMU-A). The core concept centers on faith as a foundation for developing high-value creative products, including: 🔸 “Firecracker-Tail Bag” – Crafted from 999 firecracker tails per bag, combining traditional weaving techniques with contemporary fashion.🔸 “Merit Brick” – Eco-friendly construction bricks made from firecracker debris and plaster rooster remnants.🔸 “Faith Rooster Art Toys” – Repurposed plaster rooster figures turned into collectible characters: Nong Ramruay (Richie), Nong Rai-Ram (Dancer), and Nong Ra-Rerng (Cheerful), inspired by Nora performing arts and Thai–Chinese culture. The Srichon Project serves as a national model for creatively addressing waste generated by religious practices. School of Management Presents Special Talk on the Thailand Research Expo 2025
Tuesday, 17 June 2025 Associate Professor Dr. Siwarit Phongsakornrangsin, Vice President of Walailak University and Head of the Digital Marketing and Branding Program at the School of Management, was honored to lead a special talk on the Highlight Stage at the Thailand Research Expo 2025, held at the Bangkok Convention Centre, Centara Grand at CentralWorld, Bangkok. The talk was based on the research project titled “Cultural Capital Management Based on Local Belief Systems Surrounding the Ancient Sand Dune: Enhancing the Local Economy in Sichon District, Nakhon Si Thammarat.” The project is jointly led by Associate Professor Dr. Siwarit Phongsakornrangsin and Associate Professor Prachya Krisanaphan, Deputy Dean of the School of Architecture and Design. Together, they play key roles in driving the concept of transforming faith into economy—creating value from ritual remnants and turning them into culturally and economically impactful products. During the session, Dr. Siwarit presented ideas on how to creatively repurpose local wisdom, spiritual beliefs, and ritual objects—such as used firecracker tails and plaster roosters from vow redemption ceremonies—into innovative products that help promote Thailand’s soft power. Outstanding examples include: “Success Firecracker-Tail Bag” – Fashionable bags made from redeemed firecracker tails “Merit Brick” – Eco-friendly construction materials made from firecracker and plaster rooster fragments “Faith Rooster Art Toy” – Contemporary art toys crafted from recycled plaster roosters The project involved more than 30 researchers from Walailak University, along with interdisciplinary experts, including scholars from the Thai for Communication program, who also participated in the session and presented creative outputs.
