On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, the School of Management, in collaboration with the Center for International Affairs (CIA), had the honor of welcoming Prof. DATO’ Gs. Dr. Marimah Samat, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and a distinguished delegation from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) to Walailak University. The visit focused on fostering international research collaboration, with an emphasis on climate change and community adaptation to fisheries activities.
We were honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, who extended a warm welcome and joined the delegation for a luncheon at the official guesthouse. This gathering served as a platform to strengthen institutional relationships and facilitate knowledge exchange between our institutions.
The School of Management was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onanong Cheablam, Deputy Dean; Ms. Supicha Vilaisri, Assistant to the Dean for International Affairs; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Pensiri Kaewthong, Head of the Research Institute.
During their visit, the USM delegation had the opportunity to explore community-based tourism at Baan Laem and visit the Crab Bank and Coastal Fisheries Learning Center at Baan Naithung, Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat. These activities provided an insightful look into sustainable tourism practices and local fisheries management, showcasing the region’s commitment to environmental and community sustainability.
Additionally, this visit marks an important step in advancing international research partnerships and promoting sustainable regional development. We look forward to the fruitful outcomes of this collaboration with USM, reinforcing our shared commitment to impactful research and positive change.
