School of Management, WU Strengthens Strategic Partnership with NKUHT Taiwan, Targeting Faculty Exchange and International Research Grants

December 26, 2025 – Assistant Professor Dr. Pimlapas Pongsakornrungsilp, Dean of the School of Management, Walailak University, held a high-level meeting with the executives of the National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism (NKUHT) in Taiwan. The meeting aimed to discuss in-depth academic collaborations and reinforce existing partnership projects.

The Dean of the School of Management met and consulted with the following high-ranking officials of NKUHT:

1. Dr. Kuo-Tai Chen, Acting President of NKUHT.

2. Dr. Hsiao-Yi, Hou, Dean of International Affairs of NKUHT.

The discussion focused on monitoring current progress and expanding future cooperation in the following areas:

1. Student Exchange: Reviewing the performance of the ongoing student exchange programs between the two institutions, which currently involve a continuous flow of students traveling to study at each other’s campuses to gain international experience.

2. Faculty Exchange: Exploring frameworks for faculty exchange to share knowledge, teaching techniques, and specialized professional skills between the two universities.

3. Research Collaboration: Establishing a Joint Research Team between faculty members from Walailak University and NKUHT to develop research proposals for funding from the Taiwanese government, elevating research output to an international standard.

4. Other Collaborations: Discussing future joint academic activities, such as organizing international seminars or developing short-course programs tailored to the hospitality and tourism industry.

The success of this meeting reflects the commitment of the School of Management, Walailak University, to expanding its network of partners across the ASEAN and East Asian regions. These efforts aim to provide students and staff with opportunities to develop their potential in a global environment and achieve academic excellence according to international standards.
