On March 13, 2026, Walailak University hosted a grand press conference for the Walailak Research Convention 2026 (WRC 2026) and Walailak Investor Day 2026 at the Khao Luang Meeting Room, Cooperative Education Building. The event showcased the university’s research and innovation prowess in celebration of its 34th anniversary.
Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, stated that as the university enters its 34th year, it remains committed to driving intensive research to elevate itself into a world-class research institution. The focus is on creating tangible knowledge that addresses the needs of both society and the nation.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siwarit Pongsakornrungsilp, Vice President for Research and Innovation and Head of the Digital Marketing and Branding Department, outlined the university’s research strategy. He emphasized integrating knowledge to produce practical results, noting that the heart of this year’s WRC and Investor Day is bridging the university’s vision with industry and social demands through excellence and commercially viable innovation.
In addition to his administrative role, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siwarit presented a research highlight from the School of Management: “Knowledge Management for Carbon-Neutral Hotel Operations to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Nakhon Si Thammarat.” This innovative tourism management project aligns with global sustainability trends and serves as a prime example of research with high commercial and environmental potential.
The event features two core components:
- Walailak Research Convention 2026: An international academic platform for exchanging knowledge and research among scholars worldwide.
- Walailak Investor Day 2026: A business matching and innovation pitching event designed to bridge the gap between researchers and investors to promote commercialization.
The School of Management played a pivotal role in this convention, hosting exhibition booths to showcase faculty research covering management, business, innovative administration, and organizational development. Other highlighted innovations at the press conference included microwave drying technology, the conversion of palm oil waste into high – value biochemicals, and green economy waste management projects.
WRC 2026 and Investor Day 2026 stand as vital platforms reflecting Walailak University’s potential to drive research into concrete national and international applications while fostering a strong network between academia and the private sector.
