Coastal Tourism Destination Development in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province: Thasala, Sichon and Khanom Districts

  Coastal Tourism Destination Development in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province: Thasala, Sichon and Khanom Districts   School of Management, Walailak University has launched a new initiative in 2022 – enhancement of tourism capability and standards for development of coastal destinations in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province: Thasala, Sichon and Khanom Districts.  This academic service for local communities focused on education and enhancement of life quality by dedicating counseling, advising and transferring services of knowledge and innovation in the fields of marketing, logistics, tourism and professional culinary arts to support and promote collaboration among local entrepreneurs, communities, and local residents in sustaining their well-being of economic, social, cultural and natural environments.    School of Management integrates multidisciplinary fields of knowledges and academic faculties for tourist destinations development and capability enhancement. Especially, the coastal resources, which have become attraction and natural resources creating income for local communities; enhancement of tourism capability and standards for development of coastal tourism destinations in Thasala, Sichon and Khanom districts, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province is essential to be readily capable for attracting and accommodating tourists during and after covid-19 pandemic. This academic service activity also initiates a collaborative networking among participants from different tourism sectors. Also, the school directly listens to and acknowledges the needs of local entrepreneurs, communities, and relevant organizations which are significant in providing academic services and research opportunities in the future. Lecturer from School of Management, Walailak University have traveled to Berlin, Germany and Prague, Czech Republic to promoted the Southern Gulf of Thailand tourism.

Assistance Prof. Dr. Phattarawan Tantong  Lecturer from Business Administration, School of Management, project leader of “The use of brands and identities of tourist destinations in southern Gulf of Thailand as a guideline for tourism marketing for Thai and foreign tourists.” have attended International Tourism Borse (ITB 2018) which has been held from 7-11 March 2018 in Berlin, the Federal Republic of Germany. The project leader has reported on the activity and progress of the project to the Minister of Tourism and Sports. Delegation team member has coordinated and cooperated with Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Samui Branch and Surat Thani Branch, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Prague office and the Tourism Promotion Association of Koh Samui. For this trip. Project activities have distributed potential tourism brochures in the southern Gulf of Thailand. 10 tourist destinations in 5 provinces are Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung and Songkhla. In the topic “10 Wonders in Ao Thai – Gulf of Thailand” The project leader has handed in brochure and online information to promoted tourism to representatives of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in Europe such as Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Office Frankfurt, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), office of Prague and the office of International trade Promotion at Prague. This will help European tourists get to know and interested in other tourist attractions in the Gulf of Thailand than Koh Samui. As a result, this project aims to increase revenue and create competitive advantage for the southern Gulf of Thailand. Asst.Prof.Dr. Phattarawan Tantong received research grant from the Bureau of the Budget in 2018 through Walailak University total of 4,170,000 Baht (four million one hundred seventy thousand Baht). Walailak Management School Hosted The 2nd Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Conference and SAMUI MODEL Sharing Day

               Dr. Suphat Jumpathong, Secretary General of Office of Higher Education, Ministry of Education gave his speech on “policy & implementation of Work-Integrated Learning for Employability & Engagement”, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somnuk Aujirapongpan presented his special lecture on “Innovative Education Management for Work Integrated learning School” in the 2nd Work Integrated Learning Conference: Employability & Engagement. This national conference was an integral part of the 26th anniversary of Walailak University, held at Walailak Unviersity and Samui Island on March 26-27, 2018. Dr. Rungrawee Jitpakdee, Associate Dean of Walailak Management School and Head of the Work Integrated Learning Network of Universities and Establishments in the Upper-southern Region reported to Prof. Dr. Tawadchai Suppadit, Acting Dean of Walailak Management School and President of Opening Ceremony about the success of this conference that 160 participants registered to attend this event, and 36 research and academic articles from 29 educational institutes and companies were accepted (through blind review) to orally present to the audience. The article entitled “Implementation Strategies of Work Integrated Learning Strategies for Higher Education Institutes in Thailand, written by Dr. Alongkot Yawai and colleagues, was awarded for the best paper. In addition, 60 participants decided travel to Samui for the field trip of SAMUI MODEL sharing activities. Another group of 30 participants from top management and representatives of WIL establishments and cooperative students in Samui attended this event. The activities on the SAMUI MODEL SHARING DAY (Mar 27, 2018) consisted of experience sharing and on-site learning from industrial partners.
